Two men arrested with fresh human head of 8-year-old boy


The Niger State Police Command has said that two notorious ritualists: Abdulrashed Aminu (22) and Ismaila Mohammed (27), who were in possession of a fresh human head said to belong to an 8-year-old boy, have been arrested along Minna-Paikoro road’s junction during a stop and search operation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babalola Olanrewaju Adewole, the arrest was a product of a sustained monitoring of the syndicate which specialized in beheading their victims for ritual purposes in some parts of Niger State.

He stated that the beheaded boy was later, identified as Hassan Abubakar of Bakajeba village in Paiko Local Government area of the state.

Adewole added that the two suspects have confessed to the crime during interrogation at the Homicide section of the State Criminals Investigations and Intelligence Department {SCIID] Minna.

“The suspects said they cut off the head of the deceased little boy with the use of two sharp knife.

“The third member of the syndicate, one Ibrahim, escaped arrest by the police. The two arrested suspected ritualists are from Lupa and Makera respectively while Ibrahim who is currently at large hails from Paiko Local Government of the state,” the Police spokesman said.

He further disclosed that the suspects have taken the police to the spot where the headless body of the 8 year old boy was buried in a bush path very close to where the culpable homicide was committed.

Meanwhile, the bereaved father of the 8 year old boy, Mallam Abubakar Shuaib, said that his son was last seen on Saturday August 26, while taking a kettle of water from the house to give an unknown person who was said to have been waiting outside his house on the fateful evening.

He stated that all effort to get the boy failed until he heard that the police had arrested a suspect with human head, and he later identified the victim to be his son.

8 dead, 7 injured as bus falls off Onitsha-Delta bridge


No fewer than eight persons have lost their lives while seven others were severely injured when a commercial bus fell off a bridge and plunged on the Itakpe-Aladja railway line, which is 50 feet below.

The lone crash involving a commercial bus with registration number BMA 524 XA, occurred yesterday around the Agbor/Ogwashi-Uku axis of the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha highway.
