Young graduate teacher gets N1.5Million list of items from prospective Benue in-laws


Coming after a Benue Monarch banned intending grooms in his community, from spending more than N100, 000 on traditional wedding, a young graduate who teaches in a private secondary school has fallen victim of the ‘overblown’ marriage list.

According to Idoma Voice, the teacher who earns a monthly salary of N75,000 was asked by his prospective Benue in-laws to bring five jerry cans of palm oil, one goat, two cartons of beer, two crates of soft drinks and eight thousand naira before he would be given the list of items to buy and pay for.
He went, presented the items to them and they gave him a list of more items worth N1.5M.

Igbo group replies Arewa Youths, says Boko Haram, not IPOB, is threat to Nigeria’s security

An Igbo group, Igbo Renaissance Agenda, IRA, has replied the Arewa Youth Assembly, who, on Friday, called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, for what it termed “threat to national security.”

However, in a press statement signed by Jude Ndukwe and Amaka Ekwo, protem coordinator and protem secretary of Igbo Renaissance Agenda and made available to the media on Monday, the group chided the Arewa youths for such a “hypocritical and callous” call.

Kenya electoral official ‘murdered’ seven days before election


According to Reuters, the electoral body said Musando was tortured before he died.
He was reportedly seen last on Friday last week.
Musando was said to be one of the few people that had knowledge about the whereabouts of the servers at IEBC.

The Star , a Kenyan newspaper, said he had given central police station officers reports of death threats.
Following his murder, the country’s electoral body has asked the government to provide security for its officials.

Niger Delta elders give FG till Nov to meet demands, threaten to end peace deal


The Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) says it will abandon negotiations with the federal government if its demands are not met by November 1.

On November 1, 2016, a group of elders from the Niger Delta presented 16-point demands to the government as part of efforts to restore normalcy to the region – after a resurgence of militancy and bombing of oil installations.

At the time, Nigeria’s daily crude oil production output was reduced.
Following the crisis, which also sent the country into a recession, the government commenced peace talks with the leaders of the region. The peace deal was successful as the bombings later stopped.

Biafra: Port Harcourt not part of Biafra – Ex-NIA boss, Korubo Horsfall


A former Director-General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, NIA, Chief Albert Korubo Horsfall, has said Port Harcourt won’t be part of Biafra.

Port Harcourt, formerly known as Egweocha is one of the major South-South cities in the map of the Biafra agitators.

The city, which is the capital of Rivers State, was also one the last to be conquered during the 1967-1970 civil war.

Community health worker remanded by court for allegedly raping his patient


A Pankshin High Court in Plateau Central Senatorial District on Monday remanded a Community Health Personnel, Mr Philemon Burzal, popularly known as “Brazil”, in prison for the second time for allegedly raping his patient.

Burzal, a Community Health Extention Worker (CHEW), was sometimes in April, alleged to have raped his patient, Mrs Mary Sunday at her family resident at Vel Quarters in Pankshin Local Government of Plateau.

BREAKING: Aluu4: Finally court sentences police officer, 2 others to death


Justice Letam Nyordee of a High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced three out of the seven people facing trial in the killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt popularly called Aluu4 to death.

Those sentenced to death include, ex-Sergeant Lucky Orji, Ikechukwu Luis Amadi and David Chinasa Ogbonna.
The other four suspects facing trial; Abiodun Yusuf, Joshua Ekpe, Abang Cyril, and John Ayu were discharged and acquitted for lack of overwhelming evidence.

Quit attacking Buhari - Kalu to Fayose


Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has advised Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti to concentrate on criticising policies and performance and not personalities.

THE Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Monday, accused the federal and Anambra State governments of recruiting those it described as uneducated individuals and students in the universities to infiltrate into its ranks in order to label the organization a violent group.

IPOB was apparently reacting to Sunday’s incident at Ekwulobia in Aguata local government area of Anambra State where some youths dressed in IOPB uniform and waving Biafra flags tried to force themselves into St. Joseph’e Church in the town where Governor Willie Obiano was worshiping at the time.

Unknown gunmen shot dead 2 custom officers in Katsina


Two custom officers attached to the Katsina Area command were reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the state.

The incident was said to have happened late hours of Sunday night at the Dogon Hawa, Shargele in Dutsi Local government area of the state.

Information gathered by our reporter revealed that the men were on operation patrol when the incident happened along the Daura – Katsina road.
